A Challenging Prayer
GOD’S CREATION – We your people cry out each morning for help.
UNCHANGEABLE FATHER – Still, you love us, each traveling from continent to country, culture to language, from city, town or outback to anywhere in between.
ALMIGHTY SAVIOR – We are splintered by opposing values, contradictions, some weak in faith, gasping for air – temporal sustenance – as family, society, government and country are under assault.
MERCIFUL ONE – We have forgotten to gaze upon the Holy Cross which can refresh us from pain.
BISHOP OF OUR SOULS – We are struggling with identity crisis; we have forgotten we are made in God’s image.
HOLY SPIRIT OF PROMISE – We reject your powers to sanctify us, to live holy lives.
MIGHTY IN BATTLE – We’ve become frail. Come save us. Forgive our transgressions. Fill our hearts with grace, compassion and forgiveness. There is still time to change. One by one, we can blare the trumpet call to dispense charity, smile, hug, be prayerful.
KING OF GLORY – Do not give up on us. Peoples of the world, let us recommit our existence to goodness and justice. End malice, drop our weapons.
The world is screaming for peace. Amen.

Honoring the Most Holy Name of Mary – September 12
God created Mary from the beginning of Time
and She fell in love with the Word of God
becoming the supplication for our prayers to the Father.
Let us praise God for this mystery and love
sending His Son born of Mary – means of our salvation.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you,
blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb.

The Birth of Mary – September 8
Happy Birthday! Mother Mary
Saints Anne and Joachim gave birth to Mary in Jerusalem about 20 BC, as promised by God in Genesis 3:15:
“…the serpent’s head will be crushed by the woman’s foot.”
Although there is no mention in Holy Scripture, an account of her birth is found in the Apocryphal Protoevangelium of James:
Mary was “…born by the hands of the angels…pure and stainless, beautiful and full of grace.”
Two excerpts from “The Mystical City of God” by Venerable Mary of Agreda:
“…and Mary was in the temple of the Lord as a dove that is nurtured: and she received food from the hand of an angel.”
“…those that shall invoke Her name with devout affection shall receive most abundant graces…shall be consoled and vivified and will find in it the remedies of their evils…the light which shall guide them to heaven.”

This impressive Christ icon welcomes parishioners of a magnificent church nestled in the Kendall neighborhood of Miami, just a stone’s throw from where my parents lived. Drawn to this image where I laid so many prayers at His feet each day I visited my family, the icon came to mind as I woke up with inspiration to write a prayer.
As if an angel’s spirit whispered
“I am ever faithful Rabboni
Wake up to taste and see my goodness
That I may show you how to walk above the broken pieces of glass on this earthly journey of yours
Each day this mystery unfolds the Kingdom of God before your eyes
Behold my Love and Protection
My Promise of Salvation is yours eternally and for everyone you know and love.”
