Honoring the Most Holy Name of Mary – September 12

God created Mary from the beginning of Time

and She fell in love with the Word of God

becoming the supplication for our prayers to the Father.

Let us praise God for this mystery and love

sending His Son born of Mary – means of our salvation.


In the words of Saint Louis Grignion de Montfort:

“The salvation of each individual is bound up with the Prayer:”

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you,

blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb.

The Birth of Mary – September 8

Happy Birthday!  Mother Mary

Saints Anne and Joachim gave birth to Mary in Jerusalem about 20 BC, as promised by God in Genesis 3:15:

“…the serpent’s head will be crushed by the woman’s foot.”

Although there is no mention in Holy Scripture, an account of her birth is found in the Apocryphal Protoevangelium of James:

Mary was “…born by the hands of the angels…pure and stainless, beautiful and full of grace.”

Two excerpts from “The Mystical City of God” by Venerable Mary of Agreda:

“…and Mary was in the temple of the Lord as a dove that is nurtured: and she received food from the hand of an angel.”

“…those that shall invoke Her name with devout affection shall receive most abundant graces…shall be consoled and vivified and will find in it the remedies of their evils…the light which shall guide them to heaven.”

Christ Enthroned Icon


This impressive Christ icon welcomes parishioners of a magnificent church nestled in the Kendall neighborhood of Miami, just a stone’s throw from where my parents lived.  Drawn to this image where I laid so many prayers at His feet each day I visited my family,  the icon came to mind as I woke up with inspiration to write a prayer.


As if an angel’s spirit whispered

“I am ever faithful Rabboni

Wake up to taste and see my goodness

That I may show you how to walk above the broken pieces of glass on this earthly journey of yours

Each day this mystery unfolds the Kingdom of God before your eyes

Behold my Love and Protection

Today August 22, Mary is honored as Queen of the Universe alongside her King.  By Mary’s seed, her son Jesus, she will crush the head of the serpent, that diabolical force of evil in the world (Revelation 12:1-5).

This tradition is supported by the writings of Saint Ephrem (4th century) and Saint Damascene (7th century).

Mary stands as Woman Warrior ready to receive all her children in need and danger.

Hail! Virgin Bride of Christ

What Is God Up To?

WHAT???  That can’t be – another scandal?

The resurgence of new reports of clerical sexual abuse within the Roman Catholic Church deeply disturbs me.  Every person should feel shattered by this recurring  horrendous transgression.

Pope Francis’ Open Letter to the People of God should rally everyone to come together in prayer and fasting in reparation for these ‘atrocities.’  His letter can be read at the Vatican News.

Jesus teaches that when one member suffers, all suffer together.  Proverbs 22:8 warns “Whoever sows injustice will reap calamity.”  “Where sin abounds, grace abounds much more” Romans 5:20.  Especially now, we are called to be gentle enough to affirm that God is the ultimate judge of all wrongdoing.

However, we, the people of God, individually and collectively, can bring about comfort,  real changes and foster healing for the countless victims by praying daily; by walking the walk with God fearlessly and with conviction to live righteously.  We should stay alert and notice the signs of abuse or neglect all around and bring it to light.

Once and for all – the Church has total responsibility to end the status quo for these abominations, and their perpetrators warrant immediate and proper adjudication for their crimes.

On August 25th, Pope Francis will attend The World Meeting of Families in Ireland.  There he plans to meet survivors of sexual abuse and address this issue in a speech.  The world will be watching.

God is up to purifying the world

An Ancient Prayer for the 21st Century

People today seem to hunger for healing and love without knowing where to go for it.

The Prayer of Jabez may just be the antidote for deliverance.

For three years, Jesus roamed throughout the desert guiding and rescuing the Israelites from all their sufferings with abundant miracles and acts of mercy, yet he persevered to his crucifixion, death and resurrection.

Jesus on his final journey to Jerusalem said, “Even if you do not believe me, believe the works.”

Offering a prayer like the Prayer of Jabez, and asking for courage and strength to stand on holy ground when confronted with darkness, does work, because God will do the rest, it’s that simple.
