The Sacred Monastery of the God-Trodden Mount Sinai
Expose on Prayer
When Catherine of Alexandria of Egypt was martyred in 305, it was recorded that milk instead of blood passed through her wounds. 500 years later, a traveling monk was given a vision of her burial, her body in-corrupt, emanating sweet myrrh; her remains were moved to this – the oldest monastery in the world – now about 20 monks remain.
QUOTE from Exodus 34:29
“When Moses came down from Mount Sinai, with the two tablets of the testimony in his hands as he came down from the mountain, Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone because he had been talking with God.”
Prayer begins with a time and place to communion with God and myself creating a solitude that holds my life together with Him.
Jesus always went to a lonely place to pray – Alone with Him, I learn that being is more important than having.
In that ‘alone’ place I learn that my life is a gift to be shared; not a possession.
