On February 22, 1931, according to Saint Faustina’s Diary entry 699, Jesus made a special promise to her, which was consecrated to the whole world on April 4, 1937:
“My daughter, tell the whole world about my inconceivable mercy. I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge for all souls, and especially for poor sinners. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those who approach the fount of My Mercy.”
In 2000, Pope John Paul II promulgated this Divine Mercy devotion to be celebrated on the first Sunday after Easter (He died on Divine Mercy Sunday 2005).
Jesus thus promises “whoever approaches the fount of Life on this day will be granted complete forgiveness of sins and punishment.”
Today, may we all ‘taste and see the goodness’ of God’s Divine Mercy.
