LEAVING ALL BEHIND

THE WORLD’S TRAPPINGS – IN SEARCH OF

TRAIL WITH GOD – ALONE

Since the second century the Desert Fathers have established a tradition of committing themselves – body, soul, mind and will – to experiencing union with God in the quiet and silence of the desert.

Now begins Lent for the Faithful to renew a deeper longing with God.  Saint Paul reminds us of the difficulties ahead when he said: “I do not do the good I want, but I do the evil I do not want.”

Abba Daniel of the Desert said: “The body prospers in the measure in which the soul is weakened, and the soul prospers in the measure in which the body is weakened.”

May the glory of these forty days sanctify all those who wish to draw closer to God and follow Truth, and find peace, in the Desert.
